JAKARTA - Three Indonesian students won each silver medal at the 35th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) event in 2024 in Astana, Kazakhstan, which closed on Saturday night local time.
Based on information from the Indonesian Embassy in Astana received on Sunday, the three silver medalists are Aaron Christian Endrij from SMAK BPK Gading Serpong, Keisha Rochelline Simorangkir from SMAN 8 Jakarta, and Erlangga Dief Putra Hamam from Al Irsyad Al Islamiyah High School.
Meanwhile, another member of the Indonesian delegation, Samuel Cristian from SMAN 19, Jakarta, has not won a medal.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan Fadjroel Rachman, who attended the agenda of handing over the 35th IBO medal, expressed pride for the achievements of the students.
"This achievement is proof that Indonesian students have the ability to compete in the international arena," said Fadjroel, as quoted by Antara.
He also said that this achievement shows that Indonesia does not lack great talents who are ready to compete in international competitions.

The 35th IBO in 2024 which will be held in Astana, Kazakhstan on 7'14 July 2024 was attended by 294 students from 78 countries assessed by 261 judges.
