Kominfo Silences About The Sustainability Of PDNS 2's Fate After Ransomware Attack

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology is reluctant to comment on the follow-up to the ransomware attack that attacked the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) 2.

Previously, the Brain Cipher ransomware group announced it would provide the Indonesian government with a decryption key for free on Wednesday. However, it is not certain when it will be done.

"There is no question, sorry. There is no question, sorry," said Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Nezar Patria to the media in the middle of the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) of the Indonesian Telematics Society (MASTEL) with the Indonesian Private TV Association (ATVSI) on Wednesday, July 3 in Jakarta.

Furthermore, Nezar also said that he did not want to comment on this matter. He submitted all the answers to the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenko Polhukam RI).

"It's up to the Polhukam, yes, it's there, it's up to the Polhukam asking for it. Everyone about the PDN will ask the Polhukam later. That's why the information is one door," said Nezar further.

Regarding the promise to provide a key decryption of PDNS 2 data, cyber observers from Vaksin.com Alfons Tanujaya suggested that the government should not easily believe it.

Because according to him, it is not certain that the perpetrator of the Brain Cipher ransomware will give the key today. Because according to him, based on the lockdown on the official website it reads 3,105 days.

"The lockdown should be 12 hours or 14 hours on Wednesday, but he won't talk. Then in front of him there are 3,105 days, so if you share 3,105 days, 365 days, approximately 8.5 years," said Alfons on Tuesday, July 2.
