Meta Removes More Than 500 Fake Facebook Accounts Made By Israel

JAKARTA - Facebook's parent company, Meta, claims to have succeeded in discovering and deleting an Israeli marketing company that used fake Facebook accounts to run a campaign on its platform.

In total, Meta removed 510 Facebook accounts, 11 Pages, one Group, and 32 accounts on Instagram for violating company policies against coordinated inauthentic behavior.

The network comes from Israel and its main targets are the United States and Canada, Meta said in its latest report on coordinated inauthentic behavior.

Not only on its platform, Meta also said that the campaign is also targeting many services, including X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and operating several websites with different brands focused on the Israel-Hamas war and Middle Eastern politics.

In fact, most of the people behind this fake account activity have been detected by the Meta system and continue to be automatically deactivated before an in-depth investigation is carried out.

However, when these accounts have decreased, they instead continue to add other accounts, which are likely to be obtained from a collection of accounts, which are also detected and deleted and purchased likes and followers from Vietnam, making their content more popular than ever before.

The network comments on the Facebook page of international and local media organizations, as well as political and public figures, including US lawmakers, including links to the operating website, the tech giant added.

The contents of the site feature local residents in the countries they target, including Jewish students, Americans of African descent, and caring citizens.

They also posted in English about the Israeli-Hamas war, including calls for the release of hostages, praise for Israeli military action, and Muslims claiming that 'radical Islam' is a threat to liberal values in Canada.

While Meta removed the accounts, the company has also issued a ceasefire and termination letter to STOIC, a political marketing firm and business intelligence based in Tel Aviv, Israel, to demand they immediately stop individuals behind activities that violate the policy.
