JAKARTA Quick Share, a file sharing feature quickly on Android devices, will get an update from Google. In the near future, this feature can be directly connected to other devices using QR codes. Currently, both phones must be at very close proximity, using the same network, or connected to Bluetooth while using the Quick Share feature. Despite doing all three, sometimes Quick Share is still difficult to use. Therefore, to speed up the process of connecting both devices, Google will launch QR code support. Based on the findings of the AssembleDebug account on the X platform, citing from Android Police, this new support will be added to version 24.20.13. Judging from Google Play services, Android phone users who have the Quick Share feature can create a QR code and display it via the Share option with QR Code. This new support is added under the Share menu with Anyone. When the Options Share with QR Code are opened, other devices can direct the camera to scan the emerging QR code. Later, the code contains a URL near.by will start the connection and both devices can directly share files.

While using QR code, you don't need to manually connect both devices via a hotspot. However, you still have to turn on Bluetooth and allow your Location while using the Quick Share feature. For now, it's not known when this feature will be rolled out widely. One thing is for sure, this feature won't work if you scan its QR code using an iPhone. This feature only works with a fellow Android device.
