JAKARTA - Tether Operations Limited, announced a strategic partnership with Oobit, mobile payment app, and the TON Foundation on May 16. The move follows the launch of USDT and XAUt on The Open Network (TON) in April.

The partnership announced this Thursday is designed to increase user convenience in transactions using USDT and Tether Gold (XAUt) in TONS. Integration with the Autobit mobile payment app will allow merchants to accept payments in fiat currency even though transactions are made in USDT, through the Tap & Pay feature. This initiative is expected to expand crypto asset acceptance as a legal and practical payment method.

In February, Tether took part in an Oobit Series A funding round that managed to raise 25 million US Dollars (approximately IDR 399.5 billion). According to information from CryptoNews, Oobit CEO Amram Adar stressed the inclusivity of this partnership, stating, "We don't just provide other payment options; we also open up access for those who don't have banking access to use leading crypto assets and global payments via Oobit."

Blockchain integration of TON with Telegram has made it easier for peer-to-peer payments, enabling wider access to decentralized services and improving user experience. Since this integration, more than 200 million USDT (approximately IDR 3.196 trillion) has been published on blockchain TONS, facilitating direct USDT shipments via Telegram and its use for instant payments via Oobit.

USDT is also available on 14 other blockchains, including Tron and Ethereum, and recently joined the Celo network in March.

Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership, "Together, we will provide banking solutions for those who do not have banking access and revolutionize how to transact with crypto assets, making them easier and more comfortable."

Recently, Tether also announced additional investments into CityPay.io, a platform that allows payments in various places such as Wendys and Radisson Hotels using crypto assets such as Bitcoin. Tether plans to expand this service to countries such as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
