JAKARTA The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will review the environmental impact of SpaceX's Starship rocket launch. This review process must be carried out so that Starship is allowed to operate.
Through the Federal Register, the official US government publication, the FAA announced that the process of environmental impact statements (EIS) will begin in June. The FAA will observe the impact of Starship's launch at the KSC 39A Launch Complex.
This impact review will begin with face-to-face and virtual meetings for the public. At the meeting, the FAA will receive various public comments on the various issues they should consider from the launch of Starship.
This is not the first time Starship has gone through an environmental review process. Starship completed an environmental assessment (EA) in 2019 when NASA completed its launch infrastructure construction at the LC-39A for Starship.
The assessment carried out at the time indicated that Starship had no significant impact on the environment. After the EA is carried out, SpaceX plans to launch Starship 24 times a year.

What's more, SpaceX proposes the construction of additional launch infrastructure. This EIS study led by the Air Force Department will review the potential use of Space Launch Complex (SLC) 37 and new sites, namely SLC-50.
It is not explained when the EIS for the Starship launch of the LC-39A will be finalized. However, the final EIS issuance is expected to be completed in September next year with a decision record and location to be selected for the Starship launch.
