The Online Gambling Eradication Task Force Will Be Formed Next Week

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi stated that the Indonesian government will form an Integrated Task Force to eradicate online gambling.

Furthermore, Budi revealed, this task force will immediately work in the next week, and has also been coordinated with relevant ministries and institutions, including the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Human Rights, OJK, Ministry of Finance, Police, and the Attorney General's Office.

"We'll wait (regulation), in a week. Yesterday we had a meeting, in a week there will be formulas regarding the completion of the completion of the online gambling emergency task force," Budi told the media on Friday, April 19.

The formation of this task force itself aims to solve the problem of online gambling more thoroughly, considering that online gambling has a negative impact, especially since it has claimed several victims.

Minister of Communication and Information Budi stated that the Ministry of Communication and Informatics will focus on handling online content and gambling sites. Meanwhile, the handling is carried out by related institutions and law enforcement officials.

"In Kominfo, there is just a takedown, yes, blocking accounts already have OJK, freezing accounts is a matter of law enforcement, so everyone must be involved. If the online gambling eradication can't be done by Kominfo, we just take down," he continued.

Budi also added, "Because we have to protect our people, the small people from the negative influence of online gambling. It's too bad, this year alone there have been 4 people committing suicide due to online gambling."
