JAKARTA – Google shared bad news recently. In an email shared with subscribers, Google announced that it would be discontinuing VPN services by Google One.
The company under Alphabet did not disclose the date of closing its services. However, they informed users that VPN by Google One would be removed in stages by the end of this year.
Especially for Pixel users who use the VPN by Google One service, the company says that VPN access will remain available. "You will continue to enjoy VPN access from Google through the Pixel settings if you have a Pixel 7 or a newer model."
Google has confirmed the deletion of VPN services by Google One. To 9to5google, the company said it decided to remove the service due to the lack of people using the service.
By officially stopping its services, the team can focus on developing various features on Google One. This decision is also not surprising because VPN by Google One can cause losses because its services require maintenance.
VPN by Google One was first launched in October 2022. This service was launched so that users can provide extra protection for Android devices. This application also maintains the security of data stored online.
This service can be purchased on a special Google One website. Initially, VPN by Google One was priced at 9.99 US dollars (IDR 161 thousand) per month. However, in March, Google lowered the price of the Premium package to 1.99 US dollars (IDR 32 thousand) per month.
