A Series of Updates and Bug Fixes in macOS Sonoma 14.4.1

JAKARTA – Apple launched macOS Sonoma 14.4.1 on Monday, March 25. This small update to the operating system (OS) for Mac devices can be downloaded for free on compatible devices.

This OS update can only be done if the Mac has sufficient capacity and meets the requirements. Mac users can update their device's system by going to Software Update in System Update.

Reporting from MacRumors, macOS Sonoma 14.4.1 will fix an issue with USB hubs not being recognized when connected to an external display and address the issue of Java sometimes stopping unexpectedly.

This Java problem occurs due to a bug tucked away in macOS Sonoma 14.4, as reported by Oracle on March 16. In addition to Java issues, Sonoma 14.4.1 also addresses an Audio Unit plug-in issue in professional music applications.

The Sonoma 14.4.1 update not only fixes the issues brought by the previous system, but also updates existing features. Some of the updated features are widgets, video conferencing, Safari, Notes, and others.

In the widget update, Apple made this feature more interactive on the desktop. Mac users can select widgets from the widget gallery and place them directly on the desktop. When not in use, this widget will blend with the wallpaper.

Next, there is a new Presenter Overlay effect added to video conferencing. There is also Screen Sharing which makes it easier to share applications during a call and the addition of a Reaction feature in video calls based on hand movements.

Meanwhile, Safari browser will get an improved Private Browsing mode. This feature will be locked behind Touch ID when the user steps away from the Mac. Tracking and fingerprint protection are also improved.

Notes, the note-taking app found on the Mac, is also getting updates like inline PDF support and full-width document scanning. Users can also add linked notes to connect one note to another note.

There are still many feature updates that Apple has added to macOS Sonoma 14.4.1. To see all the features, you can immediately update the system in Software Update. If the update is not yet available, you may have to wait some more time.
