Spotify Tests Learning Videos Within the App

JAKARTA – Spotify is a music and podcast streaming platform in audio form. Although the initial function of this application is a digital audio service, Spotify is trying to explore video playback features.

Announced via the company's official blog, Spotify said that it is testing video playback in the UK. Interestingly, the video content they present is a paid course for educational purposes.

Spotify partners with several educational technology companies to provide video-based courses. Some of the companies that partner with Spotify are BBC Maestro, PLAYvirtuoso, Skillshare, and Thinkific.

Given that this feature is currently being tested, Spotify beta users in the UK can access video courses for free. The content of this course will present four main topics, namely making music, being creative, learning business, and living healthy.

If testing has been completed, users will have to pay around 25 US dollars (Rp. 394 thousand) to 101 US dollars (IDR 1.5 million). For this relatively high cost, users can immediately access music, podcasts and audiobooks.

Spotify's Vice President of Product Development, Babar Zafar, said that the company is exploring interesting opportunities in serving user needs. Zafar believes that this feature will help users learn.

"Many of our users interact with podcasts and audiobooks every day for their learning needs, and we believe this highly engaged community will be interested in accessing and purchasing quality content," said Zafar.

To access video-based courses, ensure that the application used is the latest version. When opening the Home tab, users will see a feature that displays video-based courses.

When the feature is clicked, users can browse the four visible categories and purchase the desired video. Once the purchase is made, the video will be available on mobile and desktop devices and can be accessed anytime and anywhere.
