Kaspersky Reveals Cyber Threats In 2024, The Financial Sector And The Government Have Great Potential

JAKARTA - Throughout 2023, Kaspersky's detection system has successfully blocked 29,426,930 attacks via the internet in Indonesia.

As for local infections, the global cybersecurity company said it had succeeded in detecting and thwarting more than 51,261,542 detections in the same period.

At the launch of Kaspersky KUMA and Cyber Landscape of Indonesia on Tuesday, February 27, Dony Koesmandarian, Territory Manager Kaspersky Indonesia revealed that online gambling is a cyber threat that will occur in 2024.

"Illegal gaming is certain, crypto is fixed, because there are several very significant things to do as well. Investment is not clear, it looks like it will still be trending in 2024," said Dony in his presentation.

In addition, Dony also mentioned at least five potential cyber threats that Kaspersky succeeded in identifying, such as fraudulent investments, money laundry, illegal gaming, to crypto fraud.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the financial sector is still the main target for cyberattack perpetrators. For this sector, the type of threat that might be found is the APK mode containing the virus.

In addition to finance, Dony also mentioned the government sector which is also a field for cybercriminals.

The second is definitely government, why? Because there is a lot of data. This is big, he covers the whole thing, imagine that all of Indonesia is around 278 million, approximately one log of Indonesians is hit, the data is big," he told the media.
