Tinder Will Expand ID Verification Launch In US, UK, Brazil And Mexico

JAKARTA - Online dating app Tinder announced it will expand its ID Verification options to users in the US, UK, Brazil, and Mexico, to help users confirm the authenticity of their profiles.

In its announcement, Tinder plans to provide this feature in the US and Mexico in the summer, as well as in the UK and Brazil next spring.

With this ID Verification, users are required to take a selfie video, as well as scan the valid SIM or Passport. From there, Tinder will check whether the face and data match the account owner's ID card or not.

Later, users who only complete Photo Verification will receive a blue camera icon badge and users who complete ID Verification will receive a blue ID icon badge.

Meanwhile, users who complete ID and Photo Verification will receive a blue tick. You can verify the ID directly on the user's Profile page.

"We believe ID Verification is an important tool that users can use to help prove they are people in their photos and help provide peace of mind when deciding to meet someone outside the app," said Ted Bunch, Chief Development Officer, A Call to Men.

By giving more users this option, Tinder gives users more choices and options in the way they connect and ultimately feels safer while browsing a new connection.

Previously, Tinder had tested this ID Verification feature in New Zealand and Australia. In that trial, Tinder managed to improve its profile authenticity by 67 percent compared to unverified users.
