Sony launches VR headset for PS5 (VR Scout)

JAKARTA - Sony announced the latest generation of Virtual Reality (VR) headsets for the PlayStation 5. The plan is that the supporting device for the PS5 will support the next-gen games that will be released in 2021.

As previously reported, Sony released a VR headset for the PlayStation 4 console in 2016. Although Sony's VR devices are no better when compared to Oculus Rift or HTC Vive VR headsets. In fact, the device is easy to use and has proven popular with gamers.

Cited from The Guardian, Sony revealed that this device supports technology with a unique selection of games from their own studio, including the game Moss which tells the adventure of a little mouse. In addition, there is also the AstraBot Rescue Mission game which presents a small white robot game that has become a PlayStation icon. There are also other games such as the VR version of Tetris Effect.

The presence of this latest VR system promises better resolution, more accuracy, and a wider display. This brand-new VR device will connect to the PS5 console via a cable, making it easier to set up and use.

The device will also come with a new VR motion controller that will incorporate some of the features of the DualSense PS5 pad.

The PlayStation 5 console has been sold out since it was first launched in late November. According to the company's sales report, the PS5 console has sold 4.5 million consoles at the end of last year.

"Players will really feel its presence and be more immersed in the world of gaming once they use the new headset", said Sony's Hideaki Nishino in an article posted on the official PlayStation blog.

"With both PlayStation VR devices and the latest generation VR systems in place, our commitment to virtual reality as a vehicle for gaming is greater than ever", added Nishino.
