Predator Spreads Videos Of Sexual Harassment Of Children In Twitch's Clips Feature

JAKARTA A study conducted by Briomberg shows that Twitch, a service for streamers, has many videos harassing children, especially in the Clips feature.

Of the 1,100 clips analyzed, there are 83 clips containing sexual content and involving children. One of the video clips highlighted was a video of a boy lowering his pants and spreading them by an account following children.

Initially, the boy streamed to eat anandwich and played his trumpet. When the child began to receive requests from his audience, he began to do an unnatural thing, namely removing his pants.

This video is used by perpetrators of sexual harassment. They cut the video and shared it with the Clips feature. Even though Twitch has removed the 20-second show, this problem cannot be ignored.

Canada's Child Protection Center made a similar analysis and said 34 videos from 83 exploitative videos showed children showing their genitals. This video is dominated by boys aged 5 to 12 years.

Twitch has responded to the results of this analysis. To Engadget, they said that child abuse is a very serious problem. They are also trying to solve the problem so that it doesn't happen again in the future.

In order for child sexual harassment (CSAM) material not to spread, the company has created a new system that can detect the actions of users who do prohibited things. Twitch will also increase security as streamers are streaming.

"We deactivated live streaming containing malicious content and suspended the channel, as clips were made from live streaming, we prevented the creation and deployment of malicious clips at the source," Twitch said.

In addition, Twitch will ensure that the video clips they delete will no longer be available via a public domain or other links. In line with this effort, they will improve the guidelines used by internal parties in identifying malicious online content.
