Cybersecurity Consultant Says Why It's Difficult for the Government to Reveal Hacker Bjorka's Identity

JAKARTA - Data leaks continue to occur throughout the world, including Indonesia. The figure behind Bjorka, the hacker who terrorized Indonesian government ministries and institutions, is still unclear.

Around September last year, Indonesian law enforcement officers arrested a young man from Madiun who they claimed was Bjorka. But unfortunately, this young man is not the real Bjorka. Until now, the case of Bjorka's wrongful arrest is still being discussed.

Commenting on the Indonesian government's difficulty in finding Bjorka, a cyber security consultant and founder of Ethical Hacker Indonesia Teguh Aprianto said that the quality of Indonesian law enforcement officers was still 'deficient'.

"If we talk about law enforcement officers, if we say that the quality is still really bad," said Teguh to VOI after the Media Briefing event "Identifying Cyber ​​Security Threats and Risks in the 2024 Election" by ELSAM on Wednesday, December 20 in Jakarta.

According to him, several cyber incidents involving institutions such as the National Cyber ​​and Crypto Agency (BSSN), the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), and Bareskrim have not yet been revealed.

"Because the case involved several institutions such as BSSN, BIN, and Bareskrim, but none of them exist. "Even though I think Bjorka and Jimbo are Indonesian," explained Teguh further.

Teguh also added, "The case of wrongful arrest was yesterday, so we can see many cases involving law enforcers, so far no one has resulted in an arrest."

Seeing this case, he thinks that law enforcement officials in Indonesia have not been educated about how to carry out investigations in the internet realm. "The quality of our officers in this field is not very good," he concluded.
