JAKARTA - Administrator of the United States Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) Bill Nelson plans to visit India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to deepen bilateral cooperation.

NASA announced that this meeting will begin on Monday, November 27th. However, they did not specify when Nelson would meet each country's representatives.

Through visits to India and the UAE, NASA plans to deepen cooperation in the fields of innovation and space research, particularly deep exploration of human life and science about the earth.

NASA first collaborated with the Indian Space Research Agency (ISRO) at the end of 2014. Both have signed a NASA-ISRO Synthetic Radar Apertur (NISAR) satellite development project.

This radar imaging satellite was supposed to be launched last September, but was postponed until the first quarter of next year. During Nelson's visit to India, the NASA Administrator will see direct testing from NISAR.

Nelson will visit several locations in India, including Bengaluru-based facilities where the NISAR spacecraft, a joint Earth observation mission between NASA and ISRO, is undergoing testing and integration, NASA wrote in its release, quoted Sunday, November 26.

It should be noted that NISAR is the first revolutionary observation instrument on Earth to measure various changes in ecosystems such as soil surfaces, ice mass changes, to information related to natural disasters and climate change.

Meanwhile, while in the UAE, Nelson will participate in the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference. The big event will be held from November 30 to December 12 in Dubai.

This conference will highlight NASA's role as a global leader in providing knowledge data about the earth. Nelson will also discuss various matters regarding science, technology and mathematics education (STEM) as well as the Artemis program, namely the human landing mission on the Moon.
