Whuzz! Qualcomm Snapdragon X65's New 5G Modem Speed Can Reach 10 Gbps!

JAKARTA - Qualcomm announced its newest 5G modem, the Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF system. This fourth-generation modem made by Qualcomm is even claimed to be super fast, which can penetrate speeds of 10Gbps (Gigabit per second).

This Snapdragon X65 modem has an architecture that can be upgraded as needed. The chipset is built with the world's first 5G 10 Gigabit Modem-RF System and 3GPP Release 16 models.

"The transition to 5G presents the greatest opportunity for Qualcomm because cellular technology is ready to provide benefits to every industry," said President and CEO-elect, Qualcomm Incorporated, Cristiano Amon, in a written statement, quoted Wednesday, February 10.

Snapdragon X65 is Qualcom's biggest leap in 5G solutions since the commercialization of its first RF-modem system. The modem supports 5G speeds with fiber-like wireless performance and uses the available spectrum for maximum network flexibility, capacity and coverage.

"We achieved significant milestones with the Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System, enabling connectivity speeds of up to 10 Gigabits per second and supporting the latest 5G specifications which have an important role to play in new 5G use cases," said Christiano.

Not only limited to redefining the premium mobile experience, Christiano said the modem also opens up new possibilities of 5G expansion in mobile broadband, compute, XR, IoT for industry, private 5G networks and fixed wireless access.

There is also a new antenna called the Qualcomm 545 mmWave, which is the 4th generation mmWave antenna. The size of this antenna is the same as the 3rd generation but is promised to have a greater transmission power and supports the full global mmWave frequency in mobile broadband applications.

So the modem can adjust the antenna strength from that data in real time. As a result, according to Qualcomm's claims, data transfer speeds will be faster, signal capture will be better, and battery life will be longer.

Snapdragon X65 is the successor to the Snapdragon X60 used in Snapdragon 888. The maximum speed of this X60 is 7.5Gbps. While the new X65 will be used embedded in the next Qualcomm flagship system on a chip (SoC). The plan for the X65 Modem will be used by Apple on the 2022 iPhone.
