Lentera Launches Lentera App, Builds Collaborative And Multiphased Literacy Ecosystems

JAKARTA - In an era where digital technology continues to grow rapidly, the question of the role of digital books in the world of literacy is a very hot topic.

Some say the presence of digital books can kill the existence of printed books or kill the publishing industry because writers can directly market their works.

In fact, they argue that digital books can turn off royalties for writers and publishers because digital books are very vulnerable to being distributed illegally.

Answering the question, Lentera held a discussion activity entitled Maint Book vs Digital Book: Building a Collaborative and Multiphased Literacy Ecosystem,' as well as the launch of its new application, Lentera App on Wednesday, September 27.

Proudly, Lentera launched the Lentera App application, a digital library application that also functions as a digital book marketplace for literacy industry players, especially in Indonesia," said Annastasia Puspaningtyas, CEO and Founder of Lentera in an official statement received.

Anna hopes that the presence of Lentera App can bring fresh air to update and can be used as a platform/platform to market literacy works to all corners of Indonesia and to the international world.

Anna emphasized that Lentera App is here to provide modern solutions for the literacy world, not even as a threat to the printing industry.

"As proof, we are embracing several print publishers to collaborate with Lentera App. We also held talks on the day of our launch, to bridge the ravine that has been separating industry players in the print book and digital books," he concluded.

John H. McGlynn, Director of Publishers of the Lontar Foundation which oversees three print issuances, also said that the presence of this digital buki is an advancement towards a wider literacy inclusion in the modern world.

"With the right collaboration, I believe that the entire publisher ecosystem, especially print publishers, can survive," said John.

As a literacy activist, Gol A Gong, Ambassador Read Indonesia for the 2021-2025 term of service, hopes that the presence of Lentera App can help at least a lot in equitable access to quality books.
