JAKARTA - OpenAI announced on Wednesday August 16 that it has acquired digital product company Global Illumination, in what became the first known acquisition by the well-known artificial intelligence company.
The financial details of this deal were not disclosed.

New York-based Global Illumination was founded in 2021 by Thomas Dimson, Taylor Gordon, and Joey Flynn, all of whom have previously worked on Meta Platforms Inc's Instagram.
Global Illumination recently worked on open source technology associated with online game production. Dimson is recognized to have developed a portion of the original code for Instagram content rating algorithms, according to private websites
