WinGPT Presents As A Substitute For ChatGPT For Old PCs, Want To Try?

JAKARTA - ChatGPT is here as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot that is integrated with modern devices that have an Windows 11 Operations System (OS) or later, but now WinGPT is here as its replacement for old-school devices.

WinGPT is a third-party application created by developers that makes Wordle in version Windows 3.1, presenting a very basic version of OpenAI's ChatGPT response into an application that can run on ancient 386 chips.

The chatbot was built in C using Microsoft's standard Windows API and connected to the OpenAI API server using TLS 1.3, so there is no need for a separate modern PC.

This eliminates the need for a proxy machine with modern OS to build and maintain communication.

I made most UIs in C directly, meaning that each UI component must be made manually in the code. I am surprised that the set of standard controls available for use by any program with Windows 3.1 is very limited," said the WinGPT developer anonymously.

"You have some of the controls you might expect, press buttons, checkboxes, radio buttons, edit boxes but other controls you might need, including those used across the operating system itself, are not available."

The tool also supports versions of 16-bit or 32-bit Windows 3.1 or later with the implementation of Winsock, but the chatbot will not run natively on Windows version 64-bit.

Just like ChatGPT, WinGPT helps answer questions about everything from the latest shows to kitchen recipes.

In addition, chatbots can also provide useful life advice and tell joke users as much as they want. In fact, WinGPT can help users compose documents and spreadsheets.

Even so, WinGPT has some boundaries. That's because of limited memory support, WinGPT received a short response that did not consider the context of the conversation.
