JAKARTA - Netflix has reportedly launched ad-supported packages for Apple TV or Basic with Ads. Initially, the package was not supported on several devices, but the company changed its mind.
This update has been confirmed by Netflix, where ad-supported packages are now available for US$6.99 (Rp99 thousand) tvOS devices.
Apple TV users who want to switch to Netflix Basic with ads, they have to update the app first and make sure it's in version 2.3.0.
Once the update is complete, users will be able to enjoy new cost-friendly packages. Before selecting this package, users are sure to know some restrictions first.
Due to low costs, Netflix no doubt also reduces some of the features in it, such as users can only stream to one device at a time.
Not only that, users can only watch with a resolution of up to 720p, where some movies and TV shows are not available at the lowest level. Unfortunately, Netflix did not include what events were not available on the package.
Selecting that, users will be treated to advertisements within one hour, and see about four to five minutes of advertising.
It should be noted, Netflix presents two different cheap packages, namely Basic with regular ads and Basics. At regular Basic costs cost 9.99 per month, and offers the same 720p resolution, one device stream, but no ads.
The package also gives customers the ability to download events and movies to compatible devices, so they can watch them while traveling.
For information, ad-supported Netflix packages are only available in several markets including the US, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Korea, and Canada.
The company has also not shared any plans to bring cheaper subscriptions to other countries, as quoted by TechCrunch, Friday, March 31.
