JAKARTA - The German automotive manufacturer, Volkswagen, announced that it will carry out a recall or withdrawal of tens of thousands of VW Golf, around 56 thousand units to be precise.

Launching Reuters Tuesday, January 12, this is done to fix a software problem that affects the performance of the infotainment system and rear camera, the company said in a statement.

"This repair is not mandatory, but is a voluntary service. This is being carried out on the latest Golf 8 series made up to July 2020," said a Volkswagen spokesman.

Last year, Volkswagen had to postpone the launch of the Golf 8 due to problems with the software system. The launch must be postponed until it takes place in October 2020.

To note, the VW Golf is the best-selling car in Europe and of course Germany in 2020. This achievement wants to be achieved again by Volkswagen in 2021

Quoting Carscoops, last year the VW Golf sold 312 thousand units throughout Europe. In Germany, the VW Golf has sold 134 thousand units. With Golf 8, VW wants to make big strides in technology and infotainment systems.

"With the Golf 8 we seamlessly continue the success story of the previous generation. The car continues to set technical standards in many dimensions," said VW CEO Ralph Brandstätter.
