JAKARTA - Tesla does not only produce electric cars. Elon Musk's company also makes solar roofs for public use. Solar Roof is specially designed to be installed on the roof of houses and other dwellings.

Homeowners who need a new roof to replace the old roof, usually feel reluctant to install solar panels on the roof. The reason is, they have to remove the solar panels when the roof is replaced.

To solve this problem, Tesla made tiles that have been planted with solar cells so that they provide a roof that is capable of producing electric power. After several delays, Tesla finally stepped up the installation of his solar roof.

In the last quarter, Tesla almost doubled its Solar Roof implementation until Tesla CEO Elon Musk said it would be the next "killer product".

Launching Electrek, the addition of solar power capacity is likely to set a new record with an additional 15.4 GW of capacity on the US grid in 2021.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) has announced that solar power accounts for 39 percent of the total renewable power generation capacity in the US. Under solar power, there is wind power at 31 percent or 12.2 GW, then natural gas at 16 percent and batteries at 11 percent. Meanwhile, nuclear only produces 3 percent.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk replied to the tweet saying it was one of the “best Tesla Solar Roof installations” he's ever seen.

Of course, the cost of installing this Solar Roof is not cheap. However, the idea to switch to solar energy independently is expected to materialize in the next few years.
