JAKARTA - Global digitization has definitely caused large amounts of data to be shared and stored online. According to recent estimates, the volume of data generated, consumed, copied, and stored is projected to reach more than 180 zetabytes by 2025.

However, more and more people question the company's ability to maintain the security of their data which ultimately leads to a decline in confidence in business.

Kaspersky's global research, conducted on 834 IT decision makers from Asia Pacific, shows that the loss or disclosure of company and customer information due to data breaches (59%) is a big problem for the company.

Among the most common concerns is also the cost of securing increasingly complex technology scope and cloud infrastructure adoption issues with 50% and 44% respective percentages.

When viewed more specifically about the most troubling security challenges, most of Asia Pacific respondents indicated a data leak from the internal system caused by cyber attacks (29%) and by employees (25%).

Most decision makers are also concerned about incidents affecting IT infrastructure carried out by third parties, this was recorded at 28% and was followed by security system management on various computing platforms (25%).

The uniqueness of IT infrastructure in Asia Pacific was highlighted by this latest survey. Globally, identifying vulnerabilities in internal IT systems is one of the three main concerns of decision makers, said Chris Connell, Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Kaspersky in a statement.

In Asia Pacific, Kaspersky sees that the incident caused by third parties is actually the most concerning for local executives.

"This is driven by business integration in this region and we look at outsourcing until managed services continue to be favored because of the efficiency and cost-saving opportunities presented," he continued.
