JAKARTA - Every platform must have its own community and policy guidelines that are meant to keep its users safe, as well as TikTok.

As an entertainment and creativity platform, TikTok has its own community guidelines to establish the behavior and content allowed there.

Most people may follow these guidelines, but a small part of it violates it. Therefore, TikTok announced an updated system for account enforcement in order to act better against repeated violators.

With this change, TikTok will delete malicious accounts more quickly and efficiently, while providing more consistent creators who follow their policies.

So far, restrictions on TikTok rules such as a temporary ban on posting or commenting on accounts that violates have been effective. However, many creators have criticized that the rule is sometimes confusing and disproportionate for creators who have just violated or are unconscious.

Therefore, this change was made to better address the issue, as well as encourage greater transparency around platform enforcement decisions and help its community to better understand how to follow TikTok Community Guidelines.

Under this new system, if someone posts content that violates one of the TikTok Community Guidelines, the account will receive a warning when the content is deleted.

If an account meets the threshold of reprimands either in product features (such as comments or live) or policies (namely abuse and harassment), the account will be permanently blocked.

TikTok says that the policy threshold may vary, depending on potential violations that cause harm to other users, for example, there may be limits that would be more stringent to the promotion of hate ideology, rather than sharing harmless comments.

"We will continue to issue a permanent ban on the first rebuke for serious offenses, including promoting or threatening violence, displaying or facilitating child sexual abuse (CSAM) material, or displaying violence or torture in the real world," the platform wrote.

As additional protection, accounts that receive a large cumulative warning across policies and features will also be permanently blocked. The strike will expire from account records after 90 days.
