JAKARTA - WhatsApp is working on an updated macOS app, featuring Apple's original silicon support since July last year. Now, the beta version of the app is available to users who want to try it.

Built with Apple Catalyst, Apple's cross-platform development framework is an easy way to bring the iPad app to Mac.

The new app leverages system resources more efficiently and offers updated interfaces (UIs), giving users easier access to archived chats, star messages, and calls.

Additionally, the new WhatsApp app for macOS promises a faster and more efficient user experience as it is optimized for Mac hardware.

The redesigned interface looks and feels more like the original macOS app by offering drag-and-drop support, where users can easily share files with other people.

As WABetaInfo notes, the macOS app with the original Apple Silicon support was originally available on limited beta TestFlight, but the company expanded testing ahead of official releases that can now be downloaded from the WhatsApp website.

To try it, download the dmg file from the messenger website and install it on macOS. After installing the app, users can link it to their WhatsApp account by scanning the QR code using WhatsApp on an Android device or iOS.

It should be noted, the app is still in beta, so some features may not work as expected.

Fortunately, launching XDA Developers, Wednesday, January 25, users can easily report all issues using a bug button located in the lower left corner of the app.
