Coinbase Jalin Partnership With Borussia Dortmund, Join Crypto Education For Employees

JAKARTA - Coinbase, the largest crypto exchange in the US, is rumored to be a premium partner for Germany's football team Borussia Dortmund (BVB). A report from Handelsblatt states that this crypto trading platform will get more sponsorship portions with BVB after the Bundesliga, Germany's main football league, resumed after the winter holiday.

Coinbase has been a partner of BVB since July last year, with a trading platform that provides crypto education to employees of the sports club.

This expanded partnership will allow Coinbase to put up its logo on Signal Iduna Park, the BVB home and Germany's largest football stadium. The crypto exchange will also get exposure on team social media and other marketing channels.

The duration of this collaboration will last until the end of June this year, with BVB President Director Carsten Cramer saying that the club wants to keep open existing options. This shows how important education and understanding of cryptocurrencies in today's sports world is.

"This industry is very interesting, but still new. That's why we want to keep our flexibility open," Cramer said, quoted by Daily Hodl.

In 2021, Coinbase will receive a license for crypto storage and trading from the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). Cramer said they were excited to be able to expand their partnership with platforms that follow local rules.
