JAKARTA - The studio behind the development of League of Legends (LOL) and Valorant, Riot Games recently said there was a security breach affecting the schedule for the release of its new content.
In a tweet first seen by Bleeping Computer, Riot revealed that the discovery of the attack occurred at the beginning of the week.
"In the beginning of this week, the system in our development environment was infiltrated through a social engineering attack. We don't have all the answers at this time, but we want to communicate earlier and tell you that there is no indication that player data or personal information is obtained," Riot said on Saturday, January 21.
Heads up, players. This may impact our delivery date for Patch 13.2. The League team is working to stretch the limits of what we can hotfix in order to deliver the majority of the planned and tested balance changes on time still. https://t.co/DJ8qAKSdQi

"Unfortunately, this temporarily affects our ability to release content. While our team is working hard to fix it, we hope this will affect the rhythm of our upcoming patch in some games," he explained in a follow-up tweet.
Prior to this incident, Riot had planned to release the patch on January 25. But now, some aspects of the release include the long-awaited ones, postponed until patch 13.3 arrives in February.
"Nothing will be canceled at 13.2, we may just need to move things that cannot be fixed (for example art changes) to the next date," said Andrei van Roon, Riot's head of League Studio.
Riot also emphasized that currently, the team is working to expand its work on what can be improved to provide a planned balance change and test on time.
