JAKARTA - Apple is rolling out a new parking feature in its navigation app, Maps, which gives users the option and brings information on the parking location available near the user's destination.

In this case, Apple is not alone. They work with the digital parking reservation platform, SpotHero. This collaboration, users can get parking information in more than 8,000 locations.

However, Apple has just launched the feature in the United States (US) and Canada. There is no further information on whether the company intends to launch it globally, especially in Indonesia.

To use this new feature, Apple Maps users on iPhone and Mac can search for their destinations as well as parking locations available via other menus then select "Parkir". Later, they will be directed to the SpotHero website without leaving the app.

Furthermore, once users find a parking location, they can also book a place and then pay for it using the secure payment option provided by SpotHero. Users can also filter their search based on date and time as well as parking lots with EV charging, wheelchair accessibility, multiplet service and more.

SpotHero's integration into Apple Maps is not without reason. This is a new business for the giant company based in Cupertino, USA. According to the National Parking Association, in 2020 the parking business generated direct revenue of US$131 billion equivalent to Rp2.037 trillion.

But launching TechCrunch, Tuesday, January 10, there is less than 2 percent of digitally accessible parking. Google also sees a similar business partnering with another parking platform, ParkMobile so users can pay for parking using their voices.

Recently, Apple has also presented many features for its Maps app, such as multistop stomachs, which allow users to plan to stop them before traveling and more detailed maps, 3D views, AR experiences, and more.
