TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew Will Meet With The Head Of Antitrust At The European Union, What Do You Want To Discuss?

JAKARTA - TikTok Chief Executive Shou Zi▁hukum will meet with EU antitrust chief Margrethe Vestager in Brussels on January 10. This was revealed in the agenda of the meeting released by the European Commission on Friday, January 6.

Chew will also meet Value and Transparency Commissioner Vera Jourova and European Commissioner for Internal Affairs Ylva Johansson on the same day, according to the agenda.

A spokesman for the European Commission said the meeting was expected to cover issues such as personal data protection by online platforms such as TikTok and the implementation of the EU Digital Service Act.

He declined to comment on further specific details of the meeting or who asked for it.

TikTok itself ensures to provide open information about their platform, and wants to guarantee that their customer data is not easily accessed by anyone or misused.

This data issue has become a complicated case in the US, after the ban on the use of TikTok on government devices emerged. Not only in the US, but in India TikTok has also been banned since last year, it is even possible that Brazil will follow suit.

Of course TikTok doesn't want that to happen in Europe, which has been one of the big markets for the social media company.
