JAKARTA - The multinational HSBC Megabank has proposed a virtual trademark for its name and logo, outlining potential plans for a number of NFT, blockchain, and metaverse products.

In his filing, highlighted by licensed trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis via Twitter on December 23, HSBC listed a number of products and services including downloadable NFT virtual goods and files, virtual world-friendly debit cards, NFT music, and video content files.

Metaverse seems to be a sharp focus in filing, as it also states that it is considering providing financial and entertainment advisory services in the metaverse and other virtual worlds.

Previously, HSBC had also partnered with blockchain gaming company Sandbox. In fact, they have also purchased virtual real estate in NFT in their metaverse game.

Through our partnership with The Sandbox, we plunged into the metaverse, allowing us to create innovative brand experiences for new and existing customers. We are delighted to be working with sports partners, brand ambassadors, and Animoca Brands to jointly create educational, inclusive and accessible experiences, "said Suresh Balaji, CMO HSBC, Asia-Pacific, to Ledger Insight, some time ago.

HSBC partnered with The Sandbox, a subsidiary of major blockchain gaming company Animoca Brands. However, you could say HSBC is not the first bank to join. This is because the subsidiary of Siam Commercial Bank SCB 10X has also set up a shop in the metaverse.

The world of metaverse in banking is a new trend, and it started to get busy when JP Morgan bought properties on the Decentraland blockchain platform.
