JAKARTA - Since its first launch in July, Amazon's electric vehicle (EV) from Rivian has delivered more than 5 million packages to customers in the US.

Now, Amazon is ready for its first holiday season by launching hundreds of its electric delivery fleets in more than a dozen cities.

The cities in question include Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City, Nashville, Phoenix, San Diego, Seattle, and St. Louis.

"We're always excited for the holiday season, but shipping to customers across the country on our new zero-emissions vehicle for the first time makes this year unique," said Udit Madan, Amazon's vice president of transport in a statement shared on Amazon's official Twitter.

Lebih lanjut, Madan mengungkapkan bahwa pelanggan akan mulai melihat van pengiriman listrik Amazon di kota-kota baru, termasuk Austin, Boston, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Madison, wielah, New York, layaksa, Pittsburgh, Portland, Provo, dan Salt Lake City.

Amazon is currently expanding its fleet, and now has more than 1,000 electric delivery vehicles delivering more than 100 cities across the US.

This expansion comes as Amazon and Rivian continue their progress to have thousands of electric vehicles on the road by the end of the year and 100,000 vehicles by 2030.

"We have delivered more than 5 million packages with our vehicle produced by Rivian, and this is still the beginning of that number to grow exponentially as we continue to make progress towards our 100,000 vehicles' destination," he said.

On the other hand, Jiten Behl as the chief growth officer in Rivian said that fleet electrification is very important to achieve the world's zero-emission goal.

"So, seeing our increased production that supports Amazon's launch in cities across the country is amazing. Not only for the environment, but also for our team working hard to bring tens of thousands of electric delivery vehicles on the road," he concluded.

Amazon is committed to achieving net-zero carbon by 2040 as part of its commitment to The Climate Pledge.

With its commitment to owning 100,000 road electric delivery vehicles by 2030, Amazon will remove millions of metric tons of carbon per year.
