JAKARTA - Not everyone has liked Twitter since being acquired by billionaire Elon Musk. Many events have led users to switch to other social media, such as Mastodon.

Mastodon is an open-source ad-free alternative based in Germany made by Eugen Rochko, and promises higher levels of community control. Mastodon users can create their own communities of the same-minded.

Currently, Mastodon is reported to have 655,000 active users each month, which has increased compared to the previous 230,000 users.

However, how do you find your Twitter community on Mastodon? Unfortunately, there's no direct way to find your Twitter friends on Mastodon. But usually many of them first inform on the profile or tweet that they're turning to Mastodon.

Don't worry, because there are several alternative methods that you can try below.

Use Third Party App

The option of using third-party apps seems good, but you have to make sure a lot of your followers have also used Mastodon so you can find them.

To do this, go to the Twitter Twitter website and enter your Twitter account first, then your Mastodon account. This is done to link the two accounts without storing any passwords.

Then, Twitodon will scan the entire list following your Twitter and create a list of all Twitter contacts that have linked their profiles to Mastodon's account.

This list is available as a CSV file that you can download on your phone or laptop. Now, open your Mastodon import settings in Preference click Imports and exports then select Imports, tap the Search button and select the downloaded file with the name new_massodon_follows.csv on your PC or cellphone.

After selecting files to import, check the circle that reads Joint and click the Upload button. Your Mastodon server may take time to withdraw your list of all Twitter friends that you can call on Mastodon.

Web Route to Pull Mastodon Contacts

Furthermore, some developers also create open source options to find your Twitter acquaintance who has migrated to Mastodon. You can try Fedifinder, a service that requires access to your Twitter profile to withdraw the list of fellow blue bird social media users who also have a Mastodon account.

The service will also scan your timeline for tweets, lists, and collections to find the mention of the Mastodon username or Fediverse link.

If you allow Fedifinder to scan your Twitter profile, Fedifinder will offer the option to scan your Follow-up and Follow-up list, as well as display a list of Mastodon usernames that you can find and connect to the server.
