JAKARTA - Waze has just added the ability so that users don't get stuck on the road too long. Partnering with the Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) authority, the application will get accurate information about the road.

With this partnership, Google's navigation app will receive data on road closures, construction work and other issues on the streets directly from TfWM. Unfortunately, this feature will only work on routes between Midlands and London.

However, there are reasons why this feature is only available in the city, because the average Londoner's journey can last more than an hour, plus the speed limit for driving in the city is only 20 mph and there are many cyclists and pedestrians.

Of course, this information really helps users during peak hours. The route and travel time have been monitored by TfWM, but now this data will be equipped with Waze information, which comes from app users and what they encounter on the road.

"We support drivers by sharing reliable data about travel time, prior notices about construction and road closures, and real-time updates about incidents affecting their route," said UK's Country Manager, Ru Roberts as quoted by Standard, Tuesday, October 11.

Meanwhile, TfWM stated that this collaboration made it easier for them to analyze data across highway networks to reduce congestion, improve road safety, and speed up travel times.

"Working with Waze as part of this plan will improve communication to people moving around the region. Ensure drivers receive real-time and trusted information about their journey to inform their driving decisions," TfWM said.

In fact, Google has also implemented this feature in the Maps app, showing where road closures are carried out for events such as car free day, but smaller disruptions such as road repairs are usually not detected. Waze can help here, thanks to data provided by road management authorities.
