JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) has decided to postpone the termination of analog TV broadcasts (analog switch off/ASO) in Greater Jakarta which was supposed to be carried out today, October 5, 2022.

"The implementation of ASO in Jabodetabek which should have been carried out on October 5 will be postponed or canceled, and will be carried out simultaneously on November 2, 2022, as in other broadcast areas in Indonesia," said General of Postal Resources and Informatics. Kominfo, Ismail in a press conference held on Wednesday, October 5.

So, the termination of analog TV broadcasts in Jabodetabek which was supposed to be carried out today will be postponed and carried out simultaneously with other areas, namely on November 2 at 24.00 WIB.

Ismail also said that this delay was made at the request of the Indonesian Private Television Association (ATVSI) through letter number 021/ATVSI/KS/IST/92022 dated 28 September 2022.

He also said that the letter had been signed by the Chairman of ATVSI Syafril Nasution, Secretary General of ATVSI Gilang Iskandar, and also other directors of private television involved.

"ATVSI and LPS concerned expressed their availability and commitment to prepare all technical preparation steps for ASO through massive socialization, distribution of STD for the poor and installation of television equipment until November 2," he added.

Migration to digital TV will be carried out in 112 broadcast areas, which include 341 administrative districts and cities throughout Indonesia. Currently, 90 regions have been prepared for multipleksing infrastructure and have been able to switch to digital TV.

"There are currently 556 broadcasters who have migrated to digital TV broadcasts, from 693 analog broadcast permit holders," said Ismail explaining.

Ismail said that 22 service areas that have not been able to carry out digital TV broadcasts are currently being carried out by LPP TVRI which is carried out at the cost of the state budget.

"There are 45 domestic Set Top Box device manufacturers that produce 70 types of Set Top Boxes. Currently, ASO has been carried out in 18 service areas which include 40 regencies/cities. The organizers are still conducting ASO in 94 other areas," he said.
