Italian Oil SOEs, Eni, Bergeming Attacked Hackers

JAKARTA - The computer network of Italian oil company Eni has been hacked in recent days. However, according to a spokesman for the company on Wednesday, August 31, the impact has only been small so far.

Bloomberg News first reported on the news on Wednesday, citing those familiar with the matter, saying Eni appeared to have been hit by a ransomware attack.

"The internal protection system has detected unauthorized access to the company's network in recent days," a company spokesman told Reuters in response to questions.

The state-controlled company works with the authorities to assess the consequences of the attack. They just don't want to further reveal which parties are considered responsible for the action.

So far, no ransom has been requested for this evil act. Eni herself also explained that no harm had been caused by the hackers. Their important data so far remains safe.
