JAKARTA - Britain on Wednesday, August 24 said it had launched talks with Kyiv on removing barriers to digital trade. This was done as part of its efforts to support Ukraine after Russia's invasion of the country.

Britain last May removed all tariffs on Ukrainian goods, and is now seeking to smooth trade in the digital sphere.

"The UK stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine and will use trade as a force for good to help it rebuild its modern economy after this barbaric war," said UK Trade Secretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan.

"Our partnership with Ukraine will help them have bright days ahead, and we will continue to do everything in our power to protect Ukrainian jobs, livelihoods and families," he added.

The UK and Ukraine will work to improve efficiency in digital commerce, working in areas such as electronic transactions, electronic signatures and other technologies.

According to the UK Ministry of Commerce, its country's exports of digitally delivered services accounted for nearly three-quarters of UK service exports to Ukraine in 2020.
