Ethereum Boss Vitalik Buterin Insinuates XRP, Ripple's CTO Responds Immediately

JAKARTA – Ethereum CEO Vitalik Buterin recently accused XRP of having “lost their protection rights”. This was conveyed by Buterini in an official Twitter post.

“XRP already lost their right to protection when they tried to throw us under the bus as “Chinese controlled,” he wrote on August 18, 2022.

As is known, Ripple is facing a lawsuit from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for allegedly selling unregistered securities. The lawsuit has been ongoing since the end of December 2020 and has not found a bright spot until now.

On the other hand, as Ripple's feud with the SEC drags on, the crypto community is highlighting the US regulator's relationship with Ethereum. Especially the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance (EEA) and Simpson Thathcer, Ethereum-affiliated institutions.

Meanwhile Ripple executives claim that the company has been unfairly treated by the SEC. Meanwhile, EEA - Simpson Thatcer himself is suspected of having had a hand in the regulator's decision regarding the XRP category as a security.

Reporting from CryptoPotato, Buterin commended the Ethereum community for pushing for regulations that favor Ether over other legitimate crypto assets. When Bankless.eth founder David Hoffman responded by saying he would say nothing if the Ontario exchange had restricted XRP, Buterin then sneered at XRP in a Twitter post like the one disclosed above.

Buterin lashed out at Ripple for labeling Bitcoin and Ethereum as controlled by China in 2020. The founder went on to say that the blockchain company, currently embroiled in a feud with the SEC, had sunk to a “new level of weirdness.”

Ripple CTO David Schwartz also commented on Buterin's pout. Schwartz then asked Buterin whether the debate should be resolved by the market or the government.

It seems that Ripple's feud with the SEC is dragging on Ethereum too. Even so, Ripple continues to expand its expansion by collaborating with various fintech companies and financial institutions from various countries.
