JAKARTA - Not only delaying the release of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora until 2023 - 2024, Ubisoft seems to have also canceled four game titles in an effort to cut costs and focus on bigger names.

According to a report from IGN, the games that will be canceled by Ubisoft are Ghost Recon Frontline, Splinter Cell VR, and two other titles yet to be announced.

Ghost Recon Frontline was first announced in October last year. Back then Ubisoft said that the game would be a free-to-play battle royale spinoff with 102 player battles.

But unfortunately, the game received a negative response, and finally Ubisoft decided to postpone its release, the game's trial was also canceled one day before it started. But now, Ghost Recon Frontline is completely unreleased.

As for Splinter for Cell VR, since the game was first announced in 2020 along with the Assassin's Creed VR game, players have never heard from it again.

According to Gamesradar's report, Splinter Cell VR, an August 2020 Steam hardware survey showed that only 1.70 percent of Steam users own any VR headset. Then two years later, that number only increased to 1.87 percent.

The game Splinter Cell was being developed for Oculus hardware at the time so it may have found a larger audience in the Meta Quest store, but the potential player base is still small compared to conventional games.

Meanwhile, two other unannounced games have also been completely canceled according to CFO Frederick Duguet.

When contacted by Gamesradar, Ubisoft has not yet provided any response regarding the cancellation of the release of the four games.

For Splinter Cell fans, Ubisoft has made a Splinter Cell remake which was announced to be in development soon at Ubisoft Toronto, and the player response has been more positive than before.
