JAKARTA – The top car manufacturer from the US, Cadillac, is now offering the latest model of its product, the Cadillac Celestiq, this weekend. This ultra-luxe EV will soon join the Lyriq and become the second EV to be shipped from GM's luxury car division.

Although the Celestiq is expected to be in a class of its own with a price that could start at around US$300,000 (Rp 4.5 billion) with a production target of around 500 units-per-year.

“Each Celestiq is instantly identifiable as a one-of-a-kind, giving each client a personal connection to Cadillac's newest flagship,” said Cadillac design director for Celestiq, Erin Crossley. The EV will be handcrafted at GM's global technical center in Warren, Michigan, with "globally sourced parts."

The Celestiq is built on GM's flexible Ultium EV architecture, the same platform that enables a targeted EPA range of more than 300 miles for the Cadillac Lyriq now in production and is also used in GMC Hummer and BrightDrop delivery vehicles.

What will set the Celestiq apart from its cousin, the Hummer, is Qualcomm's new Ultra SuperCruise autonomous driving technology, which will play a part in the company's goal of launching a fully autonomous vehicle by the middle of this decade.

The Celestiq will be fully revealed via General Motors Design's Instagram on July 22 at 9 a.m. ET. But the news about the actual availability in the market is still to come later. For now, potential buyers can check out the previous teaser image as well as take a look at the automaker's optional InnerSpace concept for a steering wheel.
