XL Bring 4G Services To The Outer Area Of Lampung

JAKARTA - Provider XL Axiata (XL) continues to move in an effort to even out 4G internet access in Indonesia. This time it was the turn for the outer regions of Lampung, to be precise in Bandar Dalam Village, Bengkunat Belimbing District, Pesisir Barat Regency.

XL presents telecommunication infrastructure in Pesisir Barat, Lampung, through the Universal Service Obligation (USO) scheme. The same steps have been taken by XL when providing networks in Natuna, Seluma, Bengkulu, to Musi Rawas Utara in South Sumatra.

Group Head of XL Axiata West Region, Desy Sari Dewi said, XL has operated more than 10 Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) through the USI program, all of which are 4G. In December 2019, his party started operating BTS USO in Natuna Regency, Seluma Regency, Bengkulu, as well as in Musi Rawas Utara Regency, South Sumatra.

"All USO BTS are part of the construction and operation of the USO network in a total of 289 points located in various provinces which were implemented by XL Axiata throughout 2019," Desy said in a press release.

XL hopes that the existence of a 4G data network in every area, including the West Coast, can spur the economic wheels of the local community to promote regional economic potential or increase the productivity of various sectors, including small and medium enterprises. In addition, this 4G service can also bridge the surrounding community in accessing information on a par with other regions.

The West Coast area has tourism potential, especially coastal tourism. Not a few local and foreign tourists who come to enjoy the beauty of the beach and also for surfing. The West Coast also has great potential to be developed based on the management of natural resources in the agriculture, plantation, forestry, marine and fisheries sectors.

Head of Sales Lampung, South Sumatra Outer, Bengkulu, Budi Utama Lubis, said that in addition to the USO network, since March 2017, XL has provided 4G services in Lampung and entered all cities / regencies. Currently, XL Axiata's network infrastructure in Lampung is supported by around 2,500 BTS, including around 1,900 data BTS (3G and 4G).

Talking about customers in Lampung, XL said there were more than 800 thousand there, claimed to have increased significantly compared to the previous year. This is in line with the increase in the quality of XL's network in Lampung and its surroundings. Meanwhile, regarding the use of data in Lampung, it continues to grow significantly, such as at the Christmas and New Year 2020 moments, data traffic has increased by 13 percent from normal conditions.

Currently, XL continues to expand its data service network infrastructure throughout Sumatra and its surrounding islands, in line with the company's focus on continuing to drive the development and growth of data service usage in these areas.

Recorded more than 24 thousand BTS, including around 18 thousand data BTS (3G & 4G) throughout Sumatra and the surrounding islands that reach more than 150 cities / regencies. Currently, the number of XL Axiata subscribers in Sumatra is around 19 percent of the total national customers, with the number of data subscribers reaching more than 95 percent.
