JAKARTA – As is known, the address of a digital wallet that stores cryptocurrencies consists of a random combination of letters and numbers. Random combinations of letters and numbers make it difficult for people to remember their own wallet addresses.

Then comes the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) to simplify wallet addresses by adding an .eth domain, for example Jaka.eth. So, users no longer need to bother remembering the complex arrangement of wallet addresses to make transactions with crypto.

Recently, crypto company Blockchain.com announced that it is enabling users to claim .blockchain (dot blockchain) domain names for free with Unstoppable Domains support. It is claimed to be an alternative to ENS.

According to a post from the official blog, the newly launched feature will allow 82 million registered users to own a .blockchain domain through a partnership with Unstoppable Domains. The latter is an NFT domain name provider and digital identity platform working on domains associated with readable crypto addresses.

Reported by CryptoPotato, these new features allow users to transact cryptocurrency via crypto addresses with readable names. In the coming weeks, any Blockchain.com wallet user can claim a free custom domain associated with their wallet. A .blockchain domain is an easy-to-remember crypto address that allows users to transfer assets without engaging with a complex mix of characters and numbers.

"Instead of having to copy and paste a long and complicated wallet address like bc1qw508d6qejxtdg4y5r3zarvary0c5xw7kv8f3t4, you can simply type in a memorable domain like john.blockchain," the announcement from Blockchain.com reads.

The Unstoppable Domains website points out that each domain name is an NFT printed on the Polygon network, meaning it is unique and fully documented on the blockchain. It's also worth noting that some popular domain endings sell for $100,000 on the site.

This is not much different from ENS where users only need to add the .eth domain network behind the username. The difference is, ENS users are required to pay 5 US dollars per year. Even so, it is not yet known whether blockchain.com will withdraw funds from users using .blockchain domains or not.
