JAKARTA - Google added the Screencast application on Chrome OS to help teachers and students be more effective and easier in teaching and learning activities.

With the Screencast app, teachers can record, trim, copy and share live instructional or class video recordings with built-in transcription and translation.

On the other hand, students can use Screencast to record video reports, presentations, or to access lessons even remotely, as all recordings are automatically uploaded to Google Drive and can be accessed via a link to the Screencast app.

In addition, there is also a Cast Moderator feature. This feature allows teachers and students sharing screens to share presentations, videos, or worksheets, wirelessly to a central screen, using a passcode.

For this feature, as a teacher, you just need to cast as usual to Google TV, and invite your students to share their screens using a secure passcode.

There is no need to worry if there is chaos during the presentation, because the teacher can control the course of the class. Teachers can enable or disable transmission using remote devices and require students to use a code each time they connect.

Finally, Google announced a partnership with Figma, the leading browser-based collaborative design software for optimizing Chromebook performance.

"Through this partnership, we hope to equip students with the visual communication, problem-solving and collaboration skills they need to thrive in a digital-first world," said Andy Russel, Group Product Manager, Chrome OS in a blog post.

Russell also announced that the Figma beta is free for high schools in the US using Chromebooks. Starting June 7th, you can sign up to participate in the Figma beta launching later this summer.
