JAKARTA - ShopeePay has added a face recognition feature and a fingerprint scanner to verify every shopping transaction. This is done to increase security when transacting at Shopee.
"ShopeePay has a responsibility to ensure safe and comfortable transactions. By utilizing facial and fingerprint recognition features, users have implemented additional protection to safeguard their accounts," said ShopeePay Marketing Manager, Cindy Candiawan, in a statement, Thursday, October 22.
This feature is already available for Android and iOS users. In addition to facial recognition and fingerprint scanner, ShopeePay is also equipped with Two Factor Authentication such as OTP, PIN and automatic notifications.
ShopeePay provides a customer service team through various channels, such as e-mail, call center, twitter, and Instagram, if users encounter problems or get suspicious information. ShopeePay's customer service team is confirmed to operate 24 hours a week.
"ShopeePay will continue to adapt and innovate to strengthen our technology systems and networks so that users don't have to worry about transactions," said Cindy.
"We will also consistently educate about account security along with digital literacy education in Indonesia," he added.
Face recognition and fingerprint scanner security features have also begun to be implemented by digital wallet services and e-commerce stores, such as Tokopedia, Gopay and OVO.
