JAKARTA – The car manufacturer from China, Wuling Motors, has begun to introduce the exterior appearance of a mini electric vehicle (EV) for the first time in Indonesia. The electric car, which is planned to be marketed in Indonesia this year, will appear at Laguna Atrium Central Park, Jakarta, Wednesday, June 1.
The Wuling EV will be produced at the Wuling factory facility located in Cikarang, West Java. The car manufacturer said it was preparing an EV supporting ecosystem so that it could provide the best service when the product was officially launched.
On the same occasion, Wuling also announced that the domestically produced EV car has officially become the official partner of this year's Group of Twenty Summit (G20 Summit) which will be held in Bali.
“We believe every innovation plays a role in bringing a better life for everyone. This time, we present Wuling's latest innovation, which is an environmentally friendly electric vehicle," said Brand and Marketing Director Dian Asmahani during the pre-launch in Jakarta, Wednesday.
Dian said that previously Wuling had displayed GSEV-based electric vehicles at several automotive exhibition events in the country since 2018. This was done as a form of Wuling's readiness and commitment in entering the era of vehicle electrification in Indonesia.
He added that at the end of March, his party had also announced a sketch of the shape of an electric vehicle to be marketed in Indonesia as a real picture of the progress of developing its electric vehicle line.
Meanwhile, Wuling Motors Product Planning Danang Wiratmoko said the Wuling EV design that will be present in Indonesia has a difference when compared to cars marketed in China or those that have been shown in previous automotive exhibitions in the country.
"The model that was introduced today, that will be the model marketed in Indonesia. So this is a new design, which is different from the previous models,” he said.
According to Danang, the exterior of the Wuling EV applies a future-tech design language. This design concept, said Danang, is expected to summarize the image of the Wuling EV as a futuristic car featuring the latest technology.
On the front, Wuling EV uses an Extended Horizon LED Daytime Running Light combined with chrome strips and black trim.
Underneath the Extended Horizon LED is the Wuling logo with an illuminous touch or it can light up thanks to the LED lights behind it. The future-tech design language is also found in the headlamp section called the parallel steps headlamp or multilevel lamp design.
Turning to the side, Danang said the Wuling EV has a unique mirror design because it is still in line with the Extended Horizon LED.
The Wuling EV window design looks multi-storey and resembles an airplane window which is made to be more modern and has functional elements for passengers to get better visibility. Besides that, on the side, Wuling EV has body lines that are quite firm and support the overall appearance.
Then switch to the back, the design language on the face of the Wuling EV is also forwarded to the back. This can be seen from the almost similar elements and layouts.
At the rear, the rear lamp still applies a stratified design or parallel steps. Then, there is a line of LEDs that runs from left to right along the width of the vehicle.
Overall, Wuling EV carries a dual-tone color concept on the roof and body that looks minimalist and modern.
This GSEV-based Wuling electric car carries a versatile compact design, making it easy to use and easy for users to park in various urban traffic conditions.
For price details, Danang said that his party is still conducting studies and development so that it is still uncertain. The price and details of other superior features will be announced by Wuling at the moment of its official launch in Indonesia this year.
