JAKARTA - Youtube has announced that it will delete videos containing false information or misinformation related to the COVID-19 vaccine. The video sharing platform also doesn't allow vaccine-related content that conflicts with information from health experts or the World Health Organization (WHO).

"A vaccine for COVID-19 may be in the near future, therefore we ensure we have the right policies to be able to remove misinformation related to the COVID-19 vaccine," said YouTube spokesperson, Farshad Shadloo, quoted by The Verge , Thursday, 15 October.

False rumors or misinformation regarding vaccines, including claims that vaccines have microchips implanted in the human body or cause infertility.

The new guidelines are an extension of the COVID-19 medical misinformation policy already on YouTube. The policy does not allow videos that falsely claim that the coronavirus does not exist or that say it is not contagious.

YouTube demonetizes videos campaigning for anti-vaccination in 2019. Meanwhile, Facebook recently announced a strong action against anti-vaccination content by not allowing ads that block vaccinations.

"We don't want ads like this on our platform," Facebook said. However, uploads from the anti-vaccine group will still be permitted.
