JAKARTA - Spotify has warned the third-party developer of the application, SongShift, to stop transferring its music library to other music services. It is known, SongShift is an application that facilitates people to switch from one service to another by transferring music lists.

"Unfortunately, SongShift version 5.1.2, you can no longer transfer from Spotify to other music services. We understand that this will disappoint many of you. We hope we don't have to," said SongShift, as quoted by MacRumors, Tuesday, October 13th.

"The Spotify Development Platform Team contacted and informed us that we need to remove transfers from their services to competing music services or request that our API access be revoked due to TOS violations," he added.

However, Spotify still allows SongShift to continue offering transfers to its services, but not for transfers to music streaming services.

This move is supported by the Spotify inter-developer agreement, which states that the developer may not transfer Spotify content to other music services that compete with Spotify, Apple Music for example.

This is known since Spotify harshly criticized Apple for its anti-competitive behavior. The company has joined a coalition for app justice against Apple, and it has sided with Epic Games over its ongoing dispute with Apple.

Officially, Spotify also filed a complaint with the European Commission about Apple's alleged stifling competition and resulted in an EU antitrust investigation.

According to Spotify, Apple is using its dominant position and unfair practices to harm competitors and rob consumers of prioritizing its own services.

"We call on competition authorities to act immediately to limit Apple's anti-competitive behavior, which, if left unchecked, would cause irreparable harm to the developer community and threaten our collective freedom to listen, learn, create and connect," Spotify said.
