JAKARTA - Snap's parent company Snapchat has just launched its first cute selfie drone dubbed the Pixy, this drone is designed for use with its social network.

This unique pocket-sized flying camera does not require large storage space and preparation like a regular drone. In fact, Pixy doesn't need a controller.

Instead, the drone has an up button that can activate one of four predefined flight paths. Drones can hover, orbit, or follow their users.

There are two cameras on the Pixy drone, one is used for navigation and landing, the drone can land in the hand, and the second is for recording 2.7K video.

Videos captured by Pixy will be transferred and saved to Snapchat Memories, and can be used with editing tools, Lenses, and Sound on Snapchat before the content is shared on social networks.

Launching Engadget, Friday, April 29, Pixy is priced at 230 US dollars equivalent to Rp. 3 million, he joined Snap's hardware, Spectacles, namely its augmented reality smart glasses.

There's not much information from Pixy, but reviews suggest that the drone's battery lasts around four flights. Snap also sells extra batteries for the device.

In fact, Pixy had appeared and was introduced in 2017, at that time Snap was considering making its own drone.

Then, in March 2021, it was reported that Snap was investing in a company called Zero Zero Robotics, the two parties were known to collaborate on the manufacture of selfie drones.

For now, Pixy is available in the US and France, and can be ordered from the Pixy website. It is not known for sure whether this cute drone will launch in other countries.
