JAKARTA - Netflix has again expanded its game business by partnering with card game maker Exploding Kittens. Not only that, the company also plans to present an animated cartoon TV series from the popular franchise.

Later, Exploding Kittens will be described as an exclusive version of the mobile game launching in May, while the TV show will include an adult animated comedy series set to launch in 2023.

The game will be the latest in a growing series of mobile game titles and is available to play for free with a Netflix subscription.

Exploding Kittens is produced by cartoonist Matt Inman (creator of The Oatmeal and creative director at Exploding Kittens) and co-founders Elan Lee and Shane Small.

Actually, the Exploding Kittens version is already available on the App Store and Google Play, but with the Netflix version, there will be two exclusive cards at launch, namely a new card and a game mechanic themed around the animated series.

"The currently available version of Exploding Kittens (which is a paid game) will remain in the app store after the new version is released," said Netflix spokesperson Tawni Argent as quoted by The Verge, Tuesday, April 19.

However, in this case, the package, or any storage you may have from the current mobile version will not transfer to the Netflix game, as they are two separate titles.

Meanwhile, the current animated cartoon TV series will be produced by Greg Daniels and Mike Judge (who also worked on the animated series Bad Crimes). Featuring the eternal conflict between heaven and hell that reaches epic proportions when God and Satan are sent to Earth, in the body of a chubby domestic cat.

Also starring the voices of Tom Ellis (Rush, Lucifer), Abraham Lim (Clickbait, The Boys), Lucy Liu (Shazam, Elementary), Ally Maki (Wrecked, Toy Story 4), Mark Proksch (What We Do In The Shadows, Better Call Saul) and Sasheer Zamata (Woke, Home Economics).

It is known that this series and game represents a first for Netflix because it has touched the topic of games in the film. Previously, there was an Arcane from Riot Games and Stranger Things based on the Stranger Things video series. But this is the first time Netflix has worked on a game and an animated series at the same time.

Since its debut in 2015, the game Exploding Kittens has sold over 18 million copies. It's based on cute art created by Inman, with cats doing crazy things. The company continues to make a range of card and mobile games.
