JAKARTA - It's been almost two years after Rogue Legacy 2 was announced, Cellar Door Games has finally revealed when the sequel will be out of early access. Rogue Legacy 2 will officially arrive on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on April 28.

Rogue Legacy 2 has been in development for almost four years and will arrive almost nine years after its predecessor. Rogue Legacy helped usher in the era of successful indie roguelikes like Hades.

As a sequel to its predecessor, Rogue Legacy 2 will have new monsters, new traps and new layouts waiting for you every time you enter the Kingdom. In addition, there will be 15 new classes, with 15 different styles of play.

“We took a completely new artistic approach to Rogue Legacy 2. This sequel features a 2.5D style, with 3D characters against hand-drawn backgrounds. The art uses bold shadows and all animation is done using a stepping technique to keep the familiar RL look and feel," the game's description reads on the website.

What helps set Rogue Legacy apart from many of its counterparts, such as Spelunky and FTL: Faster Than Light, is a system that allows players to continue their journey by choosing the heir to their previous character. Each heir has its own characteristics.

One of the most exciting new features for Rogue Legacy 2 is the ability to pick up Relics, which are unique items that change how your runs play out. You must earn stat modifiers, complete special challenges, and gain new abilities as you traverse the kingdom.

You can check out Rogue Legacy for free by claiming it from the Epic Games Store. It will be available as a freebie until April 13th.
